Fostering a positive work environment

U.S. Postal Service Direct Line From Chief Human Resources Officer Jeffrey C. Williamson

The Postal Service is committed to fostering a positive and safe work environment for all employees — one that’s free of threats, violence and fear. To fulfill this commitment, the headquarters Threat Assessment Team wants you to know how to get help if you need it.

Threat Assessment Team members are trained to assess the danger or harm of threats, whether implied or direct. The team’s goals are to reduce risks to employees and the Postal Service, discourage inappropriate behavior and resolve conflicts. After assessing the risk presented by a threat, the team recommends a plan to help lower the risk of violence.

If you have been threatened or believe you are in a potentially unsafe situation that involves a co-worker or supervisor — or if you’re in a domestic violence situation that could pose a threat in the workplace — call the Threat Assessment Team at 202-268-8787. Workplace Environment Improvement staff monitor this voicemail line Monday-Friday and will respond to calls within 24 hours.

Report emergency situations to the Postal Police at 202-268-4566 and Postal Inspection Service at 877-876-2455, or call 911.
